NEWS

3.1.08 "We've got a gift we want to give to you."

We just finished mixing songs that we recently recorded with Steve Brodsky (Pet Genius, Cave In) at Club Awesome in Allston, MA. It was everything a recording session should be: laid back, understated and quick, and all the songs were recorded live in just one or two takes. It was wonderfully mastered by Josh Regula. Now that we have the finished product in our hands we are giving it over to you. Free. No obligation. It seemed a waste to just sit on the recording, so we are hosting the 4-song, 21 minute recording HERE as a free downloadable zip file. We encourage you to crank it up and enjoy. If you like it, please share it with your friends.

These demos mark 2 notable firsts for us. It's the first recording with our new drummer, Matt Spearin, and it also marks the end of Disappearer as a strictly instrumental band. Three of the four songs recorded feature vocals. We'll let you decide whether you like them or not, but regardless, they're here to stay. For fans of old, however, there is a heavy as hell instrumental. We're stoked on these things and are eager to share them with you. We have a lot more in store for you and hopefully before long you'll get to hear it.

For those who prefer hard copies over digital downloads, fear not; we will have a limited supply of cd's with us this March, during our tour with PLOWS. The cd will feature hand-constructed packaging and artwork... we hope to make it something quite special. You may download the recording HERE. (right click/"save as" or ctrl/click)

Thank you friends,
DISAPPEARER

12.3.07 "Hear ye hear ye we have a story to tell, gather 'round and hear it ye shall."
Ok, it's been a while since any sort of substantial news update, but we've been busy. There's a lot to tell, but let's keep it short and sweet. Things of note:
-New drummer, Matt Spearin, is fully integrated into the band and everything is working beautifully.
-New songs abound. We actually have an entire album (and then some) written. No recording dates set as of yet, but we're working on that.
-New shows planned. That's right. We have our first two shows in a year and a half booked at which we will not only be debuting our newest member, but also a plethora of new material. We are very excited. It's been too long since we've seen you. We miss you. Please come out and tear it up with us.

This website is getting tired and we don't update it that much. We're working on an overhaul; something simpler and easier to navigate. We appreciate your patience. For now, just visit our Myspace page.

9.27.06 Welcome the new guy.
We're pleased to announce that drummer, filmmaker, longtime friend and overall RAD DUDE, Matt Spearin, is the newest member of DISAPPEARER. He shot the video that we posted a few months back, and we're super-stoked to have him in the band. The next few months will be spent learning older songs as well as writing fresh new material. No shows are scheduled as of now, but we are definitely eager to hit the stage again.

More news soon.

7.29.06 ...and then there were two
This past tuesday, July 25th was the last show Disappearer would play with our great friend, brother and bandmate, Ryan Begley on drums. He's still alive, so don't worry; the time had just come for us to go down different paths. We wish him the best of luck in all he's doing and would like to thank him for his contributions to this band since it's inception. We're sure he'll be starting a rad band soon, so we'll let you know as soon as there's news.

Now this poses the inevitable question... "will Disappearer continue?" We are pleased to say. "Yes." We ARE actively looking for a drummer. We've got a few leads, but if you or someone you know would like to be a part of this band, please contact us.

-If you are a monster behind the kit, live in or around Boston and are not a lame douchebag, then we may be interested.
-If you shower twice a year, play a piccolo snare and hate on Zep and Floyd, then get FUCKED.

Jebb gets back from the DOOMRIDERS east coast tour with Coliseum, Young Widows and Saviours in mid august. After that we'll probably start trying folks out. In the meantime we are using the downtime to write and demo some interesting two-piece ensemble recordings. Stay tuned for more.

7.14.06 Rocksound UK feature!

Somewhere where amidst the terrible haircuts, eyeliner and 7-string guitars, you'll find a nice little article on DISAPPEARER. In all seriousness, we're stoked and the people over at Rocksound are very nice indeed. Thanks. Check it out.

7.11.06 some good news
Hello all! Sorry about the lack of updates lately. We like to keep people informed as much as we can, but this summers been busy for us all. So with out further ado, here's what's going on:

-We recently played shows with some great bands; MONO, PELICAN, TRANSISTOR TRANSISTOR, PYGMY LUSH, BACKSTABBERS INC., RELICS and THEY AND THE CHILDREN. Much respect to all those boys and girls for making great music and being chill.

-We have 3 new songs written; 2 of them we've been playing in our set. The songs will most likely appear on our first full length album. There is a multitude of material in various stages of completion, but suffice it to say the new shit rules. It's heavier and a bit faster than the songs on the s/t ep. (Some of it's a LOT faster.) We don't really have a label to fund and/or release said full-length so we've hatched a sort of plan. We've set ourselves a deadline of late september, upon which we will demo an albums worth of songs. We have a bunch of friends with home studios and recording equipment, so we're going to do the best job we can with the resources available. This album will then be released for FREE via www.disappearer.com so that anyone interested can download this rough version of the album.

We aren't able to tour as much as we like, but we can still write songs. If you want to hear them, we'll do our best to make that happen.

Thank you friends,
disappearer

4.10.06 Great Weekend
Many thanks to all the people that came to our shows in Philly and Harrisonburg. The response was way better than we expected and you sure made us feel welcome. Extra thanks to Jared, Dace, the Ankou dudes, CHRIS STATUSSSS!, the Sparrows dudes and Backstabbers Inc. It was a rad weekend, and we can't wait to get out there again!

In case you haven't yet checked it out, you can stream the ENTIRE NEW EP on our Myspace page. Of course the mp3's are of a slightly shitty quality (that's what happens when you try and compress a 26 mb song into 6 mb's), but it should give you good idea of whats on the record. We should have copies of the cd available at our shows before the actual street date of May 16th. So come check us out. See y'all soon.

Jebb

3.30.06 New Video!
As promised, we have recently posted a video by our dear friend Matt Spearin. He's a talented little bro, and you can be sure we'll be working more with him in the future. Check it out in the 'sights' section.

We also have a bunch of new shows listed in the appropriate section of our website. Looks like the spring is gearing up to be busy for us.

Jebb

2.21.06 So sick of the fucking Olympics!
Long time friend/film maker/party animal Matt Spearin has compiled some footage to half a new song we recently recorded during a demo sesh. Check back within the next week for a link to view a preview of whats to come. The ep re-release (plus new traxxx) is getting mastered this week at West West Side. Jebb just finished the artwork/layout (sweet all-vellum package) and now he's off to Europe with Doomriders for four weeks! Ryan and I will continue to write/demo while Jebb's across the pond. Shows and touring are being figured out as well. take care.

1.24.06 ALBUM UN-ANNOUNCED! EP RE-RELEASE ANNOUNCED!
Ok, so our last news update stated that we would be recording a new full length record for Deathwish Inc. in February for release this spring/summer. This is no longer a reality. There's no point in going into a long-winded explanation; suffice it to say that the deal just wasn't working out that great for anyone involved, so all parties have decided to move on.

That said, we DO have some good news. Our pal Mitch over at Trash Art! will be giving our first ep a proper release. The 2 track, 24 minute self released demo will be remastered and repackaged with a brand new 12 minute song called "crownfire". We're recording it with the folks over at machines with magnets and we couldn't be more stoked. It should see the light of day around April 25th.

Though the plans to record the full length have been put on the back burner for a while, we still do have a plethora of new material that we will continue to work on and you'll hopefully hear some of it, live, this spring and summer. We're eager to get out on the road and play some shows, so keep checking back for any/all info about future tours. We're also in the early planning stages of some exciting new things, but we're going to remain tight-lipped till it's final. See we've learned the valuable lesson that when you announce something that ISN'T definite, it can make you look like an asshole.

11.3.05 ALBUM TITLE ANNOUNCED!
Amazingly, we have unanimously decided on a title for our upcoming full-length album. It will be entitled 'GLASSLAND', and we are set to record it in mid February with Mr. Kurt Ballou at Godcity Studios. We've been doing a bunch of fine tuning to our songs, blah blah blah, the same stuff we say every update. We're stoked for this record and February won't come soon enough. We are demoing a bunch of new songs (for real this time) this coming saturday, so if you're nice we might even put up a song or a jam or an mp3 of us telling dirty jokes.

LAST MINUTE SHOWS!
We put together a handful of last minute shows scattered around the New England area. We havent gotten down to connecticut lately, so to make up for it, we're playing 3 shows there soon; a couple of 'em with our good friends THEY AND THE CHILDREN . Plus we're playing Blackout Bar at Great Scott's the night before Thanksgiving, so check it out. We might play an extra long set that night. Lot's of good bands will be at these shows, so please come on out and party.

Oh, and if you're saying, "aw, I'll just see em next month or whatever...", think again. These will probably be your last chances to see us till at least April, or May. Jebb will be touring with DOOMRIDERS and CAVE IN for all of December, then we'll be spending nearly all of January and a good chunk of February preparing and rehearsing for our time in the studio. Immediately after that, DOOMRIDERS head across the pond for a tour of Europa In late February and March. After that (April) we'll probably get in some touring, and even more once the record comes out. There might be a show or two in January, but don't count on it. We'll probably be in the practice space where it's nice and warm. (Plus the cockroaches make great conversation.)

PHOTOS WANTED!
If you have any pictures that you've taken of us, (in a live setting, not blackmail photos), please send them on over to us. We'll be overhauling the photo section of the site soon, so pics are needed. You can email them to Jebb. Visit the 'contact' page.

9.14.05 New shows posted...
All the demos are gone. For real... no more left. Sorry. However, we do have t-shirts and posters to sell if you've got some cash burning a hole in your pocket. Our recording date has been pushed back til wintertime. While it means the record will be delayed a bit, the plus side of this situation is that we'll have more time to finely hone the songs and also write new ones. We will be demo-ing new songs at the beginning of october with Joe from PURITY'S FAILURE. We are stoked, cause he's a swell dude and he knows alot about alot of things. Knowledge is key.

Also, the DVD project mentioned in the last update will most likely end up being a completely seperate entity, unique unto itself and not packaged with another release. We've got a few shows coming up. We are very excited to be playing the new stuff. Check the appropriate section for details.

In other DISAPPEARER related news, Ryan has started a screenprinting/clothing company under the name "DEADHORSE". He's already begun making some pretty sick shirts; look for them to be available at shows and on the DEADHORSE website coming soon.

Jebb will be hitting the road with DOOMRIDERSfor a few shows this september. They'll be playing two shows with CONVERGE, (on their way out to begin their canadian tour), and a few scattered shows throughout the fall.. Then in late November and December look for the DOOMRIDERS/CAVE-IN u.s. tour. This tour will blow your toenails out your ass. What?

Check out this poster that Jebb designed for an upcoming KHANATE/KAYO DOT show in Boston. This limited edition of 100 hand-screened posters will be available for sale at the show and later, (if there are any left) on here.

7.27.05 Low on demos... High on riffs
It's true. The initial pressing of 300 demos is nearly at it's end. I'm looking right now at a lonely stack of about 20 cds, and i'm afraid that's all that's out there for sale, except for a handful of copies at Newbury Comics. I can say with near certainty that this demo will NOT be re-pressed, at least not in this form. We've talked a little bit about re-releasing it later on down the road, with bonus tracks and other cool features, but it'll probably be a while. ...like a LONG while, before that happens. So if you want to be one of the lucky few, you can either mail order it from us, or we'll have whatever's left for sale at our upcoming BREATHER RESIST/ZOMBI show in providence.
Songs for the full length are coming along quite well... I think we have 7 or so full songs kicking areound right now, as well as some interludes and whatnot. we might put up a practice demo mp3 in the near future, so keep it locked here for future updates. One love.

7.6.05 We had to do it.
Ok, so we got a MYSPACE page. Blah, blah blah. check it out here... myspace.com/disappearerUS
...we invite YOU to come and be our friend.

6.27.05 Disappearer finds a home.
We're pleased to announce that the venerable DEATHWISH INC. , home to many a great band, will be releasing our first full length album. We talked to them the other day, and everybody's really excited. The details are still being worked out, but we hope to make it a multimedia venture. (We're talking cd + dvd here.) Now we realise that most music related DVD's are less than pleasing, but you need not worry, as we will be going to great lengths to make sure this is totally kick-ass. Recording should commence by the end of summer.

6.2.05 summertime rolls...
Hi folks. I't's about time for an update, so here goes. Ryan's been printing shirts for just about every hardcore band that's decided to tour this summer. Thomas is either getting rained upon or sweating his ass off in the sun building houses. Jebb's been on tour with DOOMRIDERS and is going back out for a week of shows starting June 8th in Virginia beach with DAUGHTERS and READ YELLOW. (For show dates go to DEATHWISH INC.) When he gets back mid-june, we'll finish writing the album and hopefully be in the studio before summer's end. Details are still being worked out regarding the label/studio and all that jazz, so for now our lips are sealed. But stay tuned, as we'll soon have some good news to report. We're just about all out of demos, but a batch was sent to New England's favorite indie record store chain, Newbury Comics. They may be gone already, so hustle out and check, cause when they're gone, they're GONE!

Til next time.

PS. Go buy the new TORCHE cd. It will peel your face off. That's a good thing.

4.27.05 new news
Thanks to ZOMBI and BREATHER RESIST (and the rest of MAXIMUM LOUISVILLE) for making last months shows off the wall. They all ripped it up and proved to be A+++ dudes all around. We're still chipping away at the songs that will eventually become our first full length. We've got a few shows coming up in May too so check out the show section. One's in an abandoned(?) roller rink. Should be a blast. Oh, we stil have demos left, so if any of you folks in far away lands would like one, check the merch section for details on how to obtain one. We also have some sweet screenprinted posters from our shows with ZOMBI and HIGH ON FIRE.

3.25.05 ZOMBI/BREATHER RESIST shows
This week we'll be playing a few shows. Two with our pals and Chicago-by-way-of Pittsburg sci-fi soundscape pioneers, ZOMBI, and one with the best Louisville has to offer, BREATHER RESIST, COLISEUM and LORDS. These shows are sure to be a blast. We'll be debuting two new jams, 'crownfire' (a 9 and a half minute rager), and 'oil breather' (part one of a two part song). We're stoked on them. We'll have new shirts, posters and a whole lot of amps.

2.23.05 Back in Business
Looks like we finally have the site up and running the way we want it. Special thanks to Murray Bollinger for the helping hand. He went to special care to re-program the site, so everything should be working tip-top now.

DEMOS ARE AVAILABLE!!! That's right folks, the wait is over. We now have a whole bunch of demos ready for sale. 2 songs... 25 minutes of music... Sweet, sweet packaging... What more could you want? Check out the merch section to find out how to get one. We'll be putting shirts and stuff up there soon.

Writing is going well; we'll be debuting some new songs at our upcoming shows. We hope to see you there.

12.09.04
MASSART RESURRECTED!!! That's right! The glory days of all the awesome shows that took place in the legendary-in-it's-own-right "ROOM N175" of MassArt in Boston, will be revisited, if only for a brief while. Tons of great bands have played this space, and for a long time, it was the best (sometimes the ONLY) decent-sized all-ages place for punk/hardcore/whatever shows in Boston. We hope to see all our old friends and a bunch of new faces this Friday, the 10th of December, as we help our friends, bostons own PURITY'S FAILURE celebrate the release of their new cd, "EXTENTIONS". These guys have been at it for a long time, (nearly ten years!) and they've delivered one of the most incredible discs anybody's heard in a long time. Not to mention they shred live too! So come on out and have some fun with us.

We will have a LIMITED QUANTITY of 'temporary-packaging' demos with us for sale. We don't want to have a different packaging scheme for every copy of the demo, but we know a lot of you out there have been waiting very patiently these past few months for us to get our act together. So as a 'thank you', we're going to be selling a handful of these while the REAL packaging is being finished.

New songs are shaping up nicely. We debuted one at the Middle East show, and apparently it's about 15 minutes long, because it took up more than half our alloted set-time. ...we had no idea.

12.01.04
NEW SHOWS LISTED! We have a bunch of great shows coming up that we're really excited about. Hope to see you there. The demo artwork is nearing completion and will be printed up by Jen at Starshaped Press in Chicago. She's a busy gal, so it'll be a bit longer than we anticipated, but we can assure you that it will be worth the wait. To tide y'all over we might just have some temporary packaging versions of the demo available at upcoming shows.

Evidently the website still has some kinks that need to be worked out. We appreciate your patience while we try to fix it. An MP3 for the track "rust/dust" off the demo should be available soon in the 'sounds' section. Stay tuned.

11.11.04
The demo is finally done. We are finishing up artwork as you read this. New shows added. New gear purchased. New songs being arranged. Stay tuned.
